The University of Texas at Dallas offers high quality
study and research opportunities at the undergraduate and
graduate levels. 148 degrees are available: 31 at
the doctoral level, 66 masters and 51 undergraduate degrees.
UTD comprises seven schools: Arts and Humanities, General
Studies, Human Development, Management, Natural Sciences
and Mathematics, Social Sciences, and the Erik Jonsson School
of Engineering and Computer Science. It was founded in 1962
as a private research institute for graduate studies and
later became a part of The University of Texas System. In
September 1975, UTD admitted its first junior and senior
level students. In January 1990, the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board approved the Legislative Initiative to
expand the University. Enrollment is now at an all-time
high of 15,783 students. The University maintains exchanges
of faculty and students with colleagues from Africa, Barbados,
China, Greenland, India, Italy, Germany, Mexico, and Switzerland.
Collaborative research projects in Accounting, Astronomy
and Space Sciences, Geophysics, Meteorology, Microbiology,
and Geology are being conducted in these and other countries.
Special facilities at UTD include the Center for International
Accounting Development, the Joint Center for Management
Studies (with China), the Center for Lithospheric Studies,
the Center for Translation Studies, and the Center for Space
Sciences.
