The University of North Texas is located in Denton, Texas, a comfortably small and safe university town (population 80,537). UNT is located about 50 km north of Dallas/Fort Worth, providing easy access to DFW International Airport and to the wide variety of cultural activity and entertainment offered in the Metroplex. UNT has a student population of about 36,890 with 1,692 being international students. UNT is a comprehensive research and teaching institution offering bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in nine colleges and schools. Approximately 21% of the student body are graduate students, many of whom are enrolled in programs in Schools and/or Colleges of Education, Music, Business Administration, Arts and Sciences, Community Services, Merchandising and Hospitality Management, Library and Information Sciences, and Visual Arts. UNT also cooperates with business, industry, governmental and educational institutes in the DFW Metroplex, thereby offering distance learning credit opportunities. The Intensive English Language Institute is an important gateway into UNT for international students. Dual admission to the IELI and UNT provides a smooth transition for students entering a UNT undergraduate degree program. TOEFL is waived for IELI graduates entering UNT. The university offers a wide selection of study abroad and exchange opportunities for students and faculty. UNT maintains agreements with numerous institutions throughout the world.
