On the edge of the Texas Hill Country and the banks of
the San Marcos River is Texas State University-San Marcos
(TXST). Located in San Marcos, a city with a population
of 24,000, TXST's combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment
is approximately 20,000 students. As an institution within
the growing Austin-San Antonio Corridor, a region of innovative
business and trading, the University is noted for its Business
Administration and Computer Science graduate and undergraduate
program. TXST is also popular for its strong education program
which certifies more teachers than any other university
in the State of Texas. TXST maintains 27 memoranda of agreement
with universities and colleges in Belize, England, France,
Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Portugal,
Puerto Rico, Spain and Taiwan, as well as with Saudi Arabia.
TXST has also organized conferences in international fields
in cooperation with the Pacific Cultural Foundation, American
Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, United
Nations Industrial Development Organization, U.S. Information
Agency, U.S. Agency for International Development, National
Strategy Information Center, the West Foundation, the Texas
Educational Association, the American Bar Association, and
the American Enterprise Forum. Faculty from the university
also cooperate with Nippon Steel in the fields of polymer
research.
