Texas Southern University located in Houston, Texas, is a doctoral II institution offering degrees in 78 undergraduate and 36 graduate disciplines. The Ph.D. degree is awarded in Urban Planning and Environmental Policy, Education, Education-Curriculum and Instruction, Education-Administration and Supervision, Education-Counselor Education, Environmental Toxicology, Administration of Justice, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Professional degrees are offered in law, pharmacy and business. The University's 9,500 students include persons from 67 countries. The faculty of 500 is ethnically and culturally diversified and includes 60% doctoral degree holders. The curriculum includes an international minor, and international courses are offered in almost every academic department. Students have access to study abroad opportunities, and faculty members are engaged in research, grantsmanship and other scholarly activities with their counterparts in domestic and foreign institutions. Over its 50-year history, Texas Southern University has produced 27% of the nation's black pharmacists and scientists. Each year the Law School ranks in the top five in the nation in the number of African American law graduates. In addition, it ranks in the top 25 in the number of Mexican American graduates.
