  • May:  TIEC meets with representatives from two Chinese organizations, TIEC and TIEP officers visit affiliated campuses, TIEC provides strategic planning assistance for the University of Qatar, Operating Council meets in Dallas, Board of Directors and Executive Committee scheduled to meet in July, and a feature on West Texas A&M University. 

  • April:  TIEP launches University Express, a new comprehensive, customized nine-month university preparation program.

  • March:  TIEC’s program development efforts in East and Southeast Asia, TIEP’s English for Communication and Culture Program, a program update on TIEC’s Feasibility Study for a new private university in Abu Dhabi, and a feature on The University of Texas at Tyler.

  • February:  TIEC’s Feasibility Study for a new private university in Abu Dhabi, TIEP’s English for Business and Careers Program, The Weekender newsletter produced by Student Services, a program update on the University of Future Africa in Senegal, and a feature on Texas Southern University.

  • January:  Fulbright American Studies Institute for Korean Secondary School Teachers of English, TIEP’s English Teacher Training Program for the Japanese Ministry of Education, TIEC visits the  University of Qatar and Senegal, TIEC’s Executive Committee initiates video-conferencing, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

2001

  • December: TIEC’s new Strategic Planning Services contract with the University of Qatar, TIEP’s new University and College Placement Service, an update on Al-Hussein Bin Talal University and TIEC’s efforts to place Jordanian graduate students at universities throughout Texas, and the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

  • November: TIEC Operating Council meeting, new Executive Committee officers, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, UTA/TIEC workshop on international program issues, and Texas Intensive English Program evening courses.

  • October: Korean Secondary School Teacher Training Program, TIEP Business English student report on International Good Neighbor Council meeting, and official opening of the Qatar Academic Bridge Program.

  • September: TIEC's 16th anniversary, Texas A&M International University, and TIEP as official TOEIC testing site.

  • August: Dar Al Hekma College in Saudi Arabia, Tarleton State University, and Nihon University-Mishima High School Summer Program.

  • July: Into Africa: Morocco 2001 study abroad program, graduation ceremony at the International Institute for Higher Education in Morocco, TIEP Oita in Texas summer program, TIEC travel to Qatar and Egypt, Stephen F. Austin State University, and visitors from Saudi Arabia.

  • June: NAFSA conference, Sam Houston State University, visitor from Ecuador, visit to The University of Texas at Arlington, TIEP computer lab upgrades, and TIEC Board of Directors meeting.

  • May: New Qatar Academic Bridge Program Director, Angelo State University, visitors from Mexico, feasibility study for new university in Qatar, TIEP spring semester, and TIEP CEA accreditation.

  • April: Morocco, Qatar Academic Bridge Program, and sponsored graduate-student program with Al-Hussein Bin Talal University in Jordan.

  • March: July 2000 TIEC Board Chairman, Summer 2001 study abroad programs in Morocco, Qatar Academic Bridge Program, Operating Council meeting, and Higher Education Fair.
