Tailored for Adult Professionals
TIEC conducts a wide variety of training programs for
international professionals in education and business. Provided
primarily on a contract basis, these programs are custom-designed
to meet the specialized needs of a particular audience.
Faculty Development
TIEC programs for university or secondary school faculty
typically are customized workshops and short courses. Topics
have included preparation for teaching English as a Foreign
Language (EFL), instructional methods, materials development,
testing and evaluation, and educational technology.
Specialized Training for Executives, Managers and
Practitioners
TIEC provides continuing and professional education programs
for targeted audiences conducted both in Texas and at home
institutions. Topics have included development of English
skills for business purposes, introduction to American business
culture, management development, and specific vocational
skills development.

In order to meet the unique needs of a client, TIEC draws
on a number of sources, including the EFL faculty of the
Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP), the faculty and
administration of TIEC’s 32 affiliated universities,
and specialized organizations outside the consortium
TIEC maintains working linkages with community colleges,
private U.S. universities, other university consortia in
the U.S., established universities in other countries, and
private companies who assist in providing the required services.
