  INTENSIVE ENGLISH INSTRUCTION

Since 1965 the Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP) has provided high quality English language instruction, U.S. cultural information, and academic study skills development to more than 27,000 students from 119 countries. Students from an average of 30 countries enroll in TIEP programs each semester.

TIEP offers the following types of programs:

  • Regular Term Programs. TIEP offers convenient year-round intensive sessions of different lengths. Courses are designed to meet a variety of educational needs and goals and are taught by experienced, professionally-trained faculty with graduate degrees. Class size is limited to 15 students to maximize participation and progress. Individuals with beginning to low-intermediate proficiency enter the Foundations of English program. Intermediate and advanced students choose among three distinct programs: English for Academic Purposes for individuals who plan to enter an undergraduate or graduate program in an American college or university; English for Business for individuals who want to improve their English for use in a variety of business settings; and English for Communication and Culture for individuals who want to improve their English for general or professional purposes.

  • Nihon University - Mishima Senior High School StudentsSpecial Programs. Specially-designed programs are developed and conducted for specific international groups ranging from faculty wanting to develop proficiency in English, to teachers of English desiring curriculum development programs, to business groups desiring specific skills in corporate English communication, and to high school and university students wanting language and culture programs.

TIEP has advanced facilities for students including a multimedia computer lab with access to the Internet, an English Skills Center, and a tape library. TIEP administers the Institutional TOEFL, the TOEIC, and an English Proficiency Evaluation. Also available are optional short courses on special topics, extra-curricular social and cultural activities, and assistance with housing arrangements.
