  TRAINING

TIEC conducts a wide variety of training programs, primarily on a contract basis, to meet the specialized needs of a particular audience. Training programs include the following:

• Faculty Development. Provision of customized workshops and short courses for faculty. Topics have included preparation to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL), instructional methods, materials development, testing and evaluation, and educational technology.
  
  
• Specialized Training for Executives, Managers and Practitioners. Continuing and professional education programs for targeted audiences conducted both in Texas and at home institutions. Topics have included development of English skills for business purposes, introduction to American business culture, management development, and specific vocational skills development.

In meeting the unique needs of a client, TIEC engages expertise from organizations outside the Consortium when that expertise is not available from its 32 affiliated universities. TIEC maintains working linkages with community colleges, private U.S. universities, other university consortia in the U.S., established universities in other countries, and private companies. TIEC then draws on these sources of expertise as the need requires.
