The University of Texas at Austin
The University of Texas at Austin (UT)
The University of Texas at Austin is the oldest, largest, and main campus
of The University of Texas System. The University is located in Austin,
the capital city of the State of Texas. Austin has a population of
approximately 500,000. The main campus is situated on over 300 acres with
more than 110 buildings. The University offers undergraduates more than
3,800 courses in eight colleges and three schools: the Colleges of
Business Administration, Communication, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts,
Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy; and the Schools of Architecture,
Nursing and Social Work through which fifty departments provide over 165
bachelor-level degree programs. The School of Law offers three graduate
degree programs. The Graduate School, with an enrollment of more than
10,000, offers more than seventy fields of graduate study. Approximately
2,100 faculty teach 48,000 students from the United States and more than
100 countries. Special facilities at UT include the Bureau of Business
Research, IC2 Institute, the Office of International Programs in Business,
Institute of Latin American Studies, Center for Asian Studies, Center for
Middle East Studies, Center for Mexican-American Studies, Center for
Slavic and East European Studies, Population Research Center, and
Institute for Fusion Studies. The University engages in faculty and
student exchange programs with institutions in Brazil, China, Costa Rica,
Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Korea, Mexico, The
Netherlands, Peru, and Venezuela. Faculty are involved in collaborative
projects with colleagues from around the world in the fields of
Educational Administration, Economic Development, Psychology, Aerospace
Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Electromechanics, Fusion
Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Automation and Robotics in
Construction, Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, Pharmacy, Social Work,
Journalism, Astronomy, Botany, Chemistry, Cell Biology, Geological
Sciences, Marine Studies, Physics, Statistical Mechanics, Astrophysics and
Fusion Studies.
