Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA)
Stephen F. Austin State University is located 141 miles north of Houston
in Nacogdoches, Texas, a city of 30,000. With an impressive forested
setting, the university was listed among schools with the most beautiful
campus in a suburban or rural setting in Kaplan Publishing's The
Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges 2004.
Enrolling approximately 11,500 students, the university offers 93
undergraduate programs; 61 master's programs, including in the arts,
business, education, forestry, interdisciplinary studies, social work and
sciences; and two doctoral degrees, in forestry and educational
leadership. In addition to the 450-acre main campus, the university
maintains a 477-acre farm for beef, poultry and swine production; an
experimental forest; and a forestry field station on Lake Sam Rayburn. The
