Math Instructor

Position Title: 

Math Instructor (temporary, part-time) 

 

Job Description: 

Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP) is seeking part-time, temporary instructors who will work with ESL students in college prep math setting. Courses taught will be introductory algebra, intermediate algebra, and pre-calculus. Responsibilities include planning and delivering highly effective student-focused lessons, evaluating student progress and providing ongoing guidance and support, and administrative duties associated with teaching (weekly schemes of work, curriculum development, maintaining office hours, attending meetings, maintaining accurate records of attendance and student performance, etc.). 

 

Schedule: 

Must be available 5-6 hours per week in the afternoons/early evenings on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays. Course prep begins the week of Oct. 1, classes are scheduled to be held from Oct. 8-Dec. 15. 

 

Rate of Pay: 

$25 per hour 

 

 Required Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in math 

  • Teaching experience preferred 

  • Math certification preferred 

  • Cultural sensitivity 

  • Experience with international students preferred, but not necessary 

 

About the Company: 

Located in Austin, Texas, Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) occupies a multi-purpose headquarters facility that include both its consulting and consortium services programs as well as its study and training programs.  TIEC headquarters is home to offices and classrooms of the TIEP, a wholly owned subsidiary of TIEC that provides English as a second language instruction to international students from around the globe.  TIEP also facilitates teacher exchange and development programs.
