English for Special Purposes

Through our network of talented faculty across Texas university systems and the more than 50 years of experience with Intensive English programing, TIEP is uniquely positioned to create specially-designed programs for international groups.

TIEC prepares faculty to be proficient in English, teachers of English to develop curriculum, business groups to sharpen their business English, and delivers high school and university students language and culture programs. We also offer short courses on special topics, such as nursing, entrepreneurship, business, teacher training and American culture. We organize extra-curricular social and cultural activities, and provide assistance with housing arrangements.

Our ESP programs are offered year-round and can be arranged at the group’s convenience in sessions of different lengths.

Classes are taught by experienced, professionally trained faculty with graduate degrees that are all native speakers of English.

Examples:

English Language and Culture Program for Mishima Senior High School from Japan

This 3-week summer English language and culture program provides students and accompanying teachers with English language instruction, cultural information relevant to their stay in the U.S., cultural and social activities, field trips, and a weekend homestay experience. It gives students a taste of American culture and cultural activities while honing in on the English language and pronunciation.

American Studies Institute for Teachers of English from India

This partnership with the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States in New Delhi, India, provided a deeper understanding of the United States through cultural immersion and instruction to intensive English teachers from India. Participants enhanced their knowledge of best practices in the instruction of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and were immersed in American culture and society.
