TIEC is a Texas-based, globally engaged consortium of more than forty higher education institutions in Texas and around the world. Our partners are served by TIEC’s ability to access the expertise of over 40,000 faculty and administrators and by our strong presence in the 10th largest economy in the world. Our experience and ingenuity are regularly called upon to provide innovation and best practices for the higher education sector globally, including helping established institutions gain accreditation, create new degree programs, and modernize curriculum; and we map, plan and execute new university designs and curricular programs for investors and government institutions.

As a network, TIEC offers member institutions global connections that advance international strategies, build programmatic capacity, increase student mobility, and enhance global engagement to complement and strengthen comprehensive internationalization efforts at the institutions. Texas universities are a powerhouse together, and TIEC believes in the cross-sharing of ideas and information between all of our member organizations.

Texas A&M University System

Texas A&M University (TAMU)

College Station, TX

TAMU is the flagship university of the Texas A&M system which features 19 colleges and schools across the state. TAMU holds a Tier 1 research status, is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), has won 3 Nobel prizes, and yielded $892 million+ in research expenditures in FY2016. It boasts an international alumni network, and nationally and globally ranked programs in STEM, liberal arts, healthcare, law, business, and education. 

The New York Times ranked TAMIU 1st in Texas, and 3rd in the nation for overall mobility rate (the likelihood that a student will move up in income based on their education). TAMIU has a nationally ranked business program, strong research focuses in business and trade, and a partnership with the Texas Tech School of Law. The university is located on the border with Mexico, and aims to pursue a progressive agenda for global study and understanding.

Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMUC)

Commerce, TX

TAMUC has a nationally ranked nursing program and a nationally recognized student newspaper. It offers additional locations in downtown Dallas, Corsicana, Mesquite, McKinney, Midlothian and Rockwall as well as a strong online presence. It is the second largest university in the prestigious Texas A&M University System.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC)

Corpus Christi, TX

TAMUCC is the only university in the nation located on its own island, at the heart of the Texas Gulf Coast. It has a strong research and business emphasis, and a strong nursing program. At TAMUCC faculty often work one-on-one with students on research and other hands-on activities. It is also one of only seven federal test sites in the nation for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK)

Kingsville, TX

TAMUK is known for being the oldest continuously operating public institution of higher learning in South Texas. The mission of Texas A&M University-Kingsville is to enrich lives through education, discovery and service in South Texas and beyond.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT)

Texarkana, TX

TAMUT is known for its academic excellence, community leadership, and student success. Located in Northeast Texas, this growing university recently opened a new 32 million dollar academic building and an 11 million dollar recreational center. It holds an emphasis on business administration, arts and sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics and education.

Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU)

Prairie View, TX

PVAMU is a historically black university (ranked highly among national HBCU’s) with a selective pre-medical program and a rich history of producing thousands of African American engineers, nurses and educators.

Tarleton State University (TRLTN)

Stephenville, TX

With its main campus in Stephenville, an hour southwest of Fort Worth, Tarleton State University offers the value of a Texas A&M University System degree with its own brand of personal attention, individual opportunities, history, tradition and community. Tarleton is a vibrant learning community with nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as a doctorate in education, within eight academic colleges.

Lamar University (LU)

Beaumont, TX

LU has been nationally recognized for the quality of its core curriculum and the diversity of its student body. It has a strong 73% acceptance rate into medical school (above state average). It has space research opportunities, and is known for its criminal justice program as well as participating in oil and engineering related research and programs.

Sam Houston State University (SHSU)

Hunstville, TX

TTUHSC El Paso is located in the second largest binational metropolitan area on the U.S.-Mexico border. It provides the opportunities and environment for direct intellectual and interpersonal exchanges among nursing, medical, and graduate research students on one campus.

Angelo State University (ASU)

San Angelo, TX

ASU is a dynamic learning community located in the heart of West Texas, and ranked by The Princeton Review as one of the nation’s “Best Colleges” every year since 2010. It proudly calls itself a Hispanic serving institution, and has a student body that is more than half first-generation American. ASU has a strong 60% acceptance rate into medical school (above state average), excels in space research opportunities, and is known for programs in criminal justice, nursing..

Midwestern State University (MSU)

Wichita Falls, TX

MSU is a public liberal arts college and is a member of the Council of Liberal Arts Colleges. It is the only public liberal arts university in Texas with a low student to faculty ratio, and was recently recognized by U.S. News and World Report’s list of “10 Public Schools with the Cheapest Out-of-State Tuition.”

With enrollment of approximately 15,000 students, TWU is the nation’s largest university primarily for women. TWU hosts a strong emphasis on empowering women students and has nationally ranked programs in information studies, healthcare, therapy, nursing, and dance. University of Houston-Downtown (UHD)

Houston, TX

Located right in the heart of Downtown Houston, one of the nation’s most culturally diverse metropolitan areas, UHD has created an environment that welcomes and embraces students from all backgrounds. From opening their doors more than 40 years ago, UHD has expanded to serve the educational needs of America’s fourth-largest city and now offers bachelor’s degrees in 46 areas of study and 11 master’s degrees.

UHV offers a low student to faculty ratios and accelerated bachelor’s programs for communication, criminal justice, English, history or psychology that can be completed in three years. UHV is ranked the seventh most affordable public university in Texas.

University of North Texas System

University of North Texas (UNT)

Denton, TX

UNT is one of the nation’s largest universities, and offers 103 bachelor’s, 86 master’s, and 38 doctoral degree programs. It is a flagship Tier 1 research university with highly ranked programs in business, science, social sciences, and fine arts (music, film, and art).

Perched on a hilltop overlooking the downtown Dallas skyline, UNT Dallas is the only public, accredited 4-year university in the City of Dallas. Serving Dallas-Fort Worth – the No. 1 job market in America, according to Forbes – UNTD has served as a pathway to social mobility since its establishment in 2010.

The University of Texas System

UTA is a Tier 1 research university with a strong research and innovation culture, distinguished faculty in the National Academy of Inventors. It hosts one of the largest nursing programs in the US, and is nationally ranked in education, computer science, nursing, engineering, and social work. UTA also offers an English language program for international students.

Known as the flagship institution of the University of Texas system, UT Austin is ranked among the best research universities in the country. According to U.S. News & World Report, UT Austin is one of the top 20 public universities, with the #1 in accounting, Latin American history, and petroleum engineering graduate programs in the country.

UTD is a Tier 1 research university with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and research. It is nationally ranked in business, STEM, economics, public affairs, political science, and criminal justice. Ranked as one of the top 100 tuition values in the United States by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, UT Dallas offers high-caliber instruction at a reasonable rate.
UTEP is recognized as a Model Institution for Excellence by the National Science Foundation. It offers bi-national research and collaboration opportunities, and is nationally ranked in earth sciences, English, history, and therapy.
The only university named after a geological formation, UTPB offers a significantly low tuition and a low student to faculty ratio. Surrounded by one of the largest oilfields in the country, UTPB sits at the epicenter of a region whose economic growth and technological advancements have global significance. It also offers a large online learning library.
With campuses through the Texas Valley, UTRGV empowers successful futures, enhances daily life, and lets the region shine as a global innovator in higher education, bilingual education, health education, biomedical research, and emerging technology that inspires positive change. UTRGV offers one of the most affordable MBA programs in the US and is nationally ranked in occupational therapy and rehabilitation counseling.
UTSA has a high rate of acceptance into post-graduate schools, a strong emphasis on research, and nationally ranked programs in cyber security, English, social work, and statistics. Business Week ranked UTSA’s Business School as the #1 Hispanic Serving Institution in the nation and one of the top five programs in Texas. Hewlett-Packard named it the #1 cybersecurity program in the nation.
UTT offers a low student to faculty ratio and a nationally ranked nursing program. UTT has a well-established suite of online courses, certificate, and degree programs. UTT focuses on research in petroleum security, ingenuity, and more.

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA)

Nacogdoches, TX

SFA has a nationally recognized environmental sciences department and forestry research in the East Texas region. Its quality nursing program offers a 97% first-time pass rate for nursing licensing, and the school offers the only early childhood research center of its kind in Texas.

Alamo Colleges District (ACD)

Nacogdoches, TX

The five schools in the Alamo Colleges District offer a vast array of programs and two-year degrees. Recent capital improvement programs have allowed ACD to create some of the best facilities for teaching and learning in the country. The Alamo Colleges District empowers diverse communities for success.

Austin Community College District (ACC)

Austin, TX

ACC opened on September 17, 1973 with one campus serving 1,726 students. What started as an extraordinary vision among community leaders and education pioneers is today the primary gateway to higher education and career training in the region. Over the past 40 years, ACC has grown to become one of the largest colleges and universities in the nation with 11 campuses. Today, nearly 76,000 students choose ACC annually.

Abilene, TX

Baylor University (BAYLOR)

Waco, TX

Founded in 1845, Baylor University is a private Christian university and nationally ranked research institution. Baylor has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as #76 on their annual review of colleges and universities. Faculty and students are active in research, and the university’s research initiatives include the Center for Reservoir and Aquatic Systems Research and the Waco Mammoth Site.

Dallas Baptist University (DBU)

Dallas, TX

Founded in 1898, Dallas Baptist University offers a variety of educational opportunities for individuals of all ages and academic backgrounds—including degree programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, as well as continuing education and certificate programs. Through it all, DBU seeks to integrate faith and learning and develop individuals whose desire is to serve the world.

Huston-Tillotson University (HTU)

Austin, TX

Huston-Tillotson University (HT), with roots dating to 1875, is the oldest institution of higher education in Austin, Texas. This historically black institution (HBCU) offers the master’s degree in business and education. Additionally, it offers the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 20 areas of study, including a BS in Mechanical Engineering. HT is affiliated with The United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ.

Paul Quinn College (PQC) Dallas, TX

Paul Quinn College was founded by the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the basement of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church in Austin, Texas on April 4, 1872, and was relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1990. The mission of Paul Quinn College is to provide a quality, faith-based education that addresses the academic, social, and Christian development of students and prepare them to be servant leaders and agents of change in the global marketplace. 

Rice University (RICE)

Houston, TX

Rice University is ranked among the nation’s top 20 universities by U.S. News & World Report. Rice has a 6-to-1 undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio, and a residential college system, which supports students intellectually, emotionally and culturally through social events, intramural sports, student plays, lectures series, courses and student government. St. Mary’s University (StMU)

San Antonio, TX

St. Mary’s University is a private Marianist liberal arts institution in San Antonio, Texas. Founded by the Society of Mary (Marianists) in 1852, St. Mary’s is the oldest Catholic university in Texas and the American Southwest. With a student population of nearly 4,000, St. Mary’s is home to a College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; School of Science, Engineering and Technology; the Greehey School of Business; and the St. Mary’s University School of Law.

University of the Incarnate Word (UIW)

San Antonio, TX

Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, UIW paved new ways for tens of thousands of students to reach their academic dreams. UIW was the first institution to offer higher education for women in central and south Texas, consistently ranks among the top schools for veterans, and ranks No. 1 in the nation among faith-based universities graduating Hispanic students with bachelor’s degrees.

Ajman, United Arab Emirates

Established in 1988 as the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Ajman University (AU) also was the first university in the UAE to admit expatriate students. Ajman University is a multicultural academic institution that offers a broad range of high quality and relevant undergraduate and graduate academic programs. The University strives to fulfil the needs of students, alumni, employers, and society through a learner-centric development journey, quality education, hands-on experience, research as well as community engagement. 

American University of Beirut (AUB)

Beirut, Lebanon

Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

Founded in 1919, The American University in Cairo (AUC) is a leading English-language, American-accredited institution of higher education. AUC places emphasis on research and is committed to diversity, lifelong learning, excellence, social responsibility, and integrity. Degrees from AUC are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the US and by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Assessment of Education (NAQAAE) in Egypt. 

AUIS offers 23 different undergraduate degree programs and an MBA, all taught in English by international faculty members. The programs are designed to encourage critical thinking and lifelong learning, and have a lasting impact not only on students’ futures but also on the future of the entire region. Dar Al-Hekma University (DAH)

Since its establishment in 1999, Dar Al-Hekma University has positioned itself as the leading private, non-profit, higher education institution for women in Saudi Arabia. Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU)

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

PMU is a private university founded by Prince Muhammad bin Fahd and accredited by the Saudi Ministry of Education and regionally by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment. PMU ranks in the top 751 to 800 universities from around the world according to QS World University Rankings. PMU also ranks 4th among the top 10 Arab Universities in the Arab Countries by the Times Higher Education (THE).

Riga Business School (RBS)

Riga, Latvia

Riga Business School was established in 1991 in cooperation with the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, and the University of Ottawa, Canada, and within Riga Technical University (RTU). RBS was the first higher education institution in the Baltics to provide MBA programs in English, awarding its graduates a Masters of Business Administration degree that is widely recognized.

Southern University College (also known as Southern UC) attained its current status in 2012.
