Programs Internship
The Programs Intern works under the direct guidance of the TIEC Programs teams and provides administrative and research support for current projects and other business lines operated by Programs.
Roles
Identify trends and speakers for in-person and virtual educational conferences
Research institutions to which TIEC could provide future J-1 services
Provide administrative and organizational support to current projects, as requested
Assist with in-person programming, as requested
Specific Tasks
Become familiar with the J-1 visa application and management process and research opportunities for TIEC to provide these services to new partners
Prepare a report on current trends in educational conferences and trade shows, including topics, key presenters, sponsors, and other requested details
Assist with documentation and other administrative elements of programming, including support to any in-person sessions as requested
Provide regular updates to the Programs team about your work
Other duties as assigned

Preferred Experiential Background
You have:
taken courses in international relations, public affairs, government, communications, or marketing (required);
conducted research and synthesized ideas into a deliverable such as a memo, report, paper, or presentation (required);
lived, studied, or worked abroad (preferred);
led a team in completing a project (preferred); and
organized events, including preparing a budget, arranging logistics, liaising with vendors, marketing it, and collecting feedback (preferred).
About You
You are:
passionate about internationalization and improving access to education;
detail-oriented, with a focus on accurate and complete deliverables;
excited to undertake new areas of research and provide recommendations;
able to multitask and juggle multiple competing priorities;
a strong communicator, both within Programs and when representing TIEC externally;
comfortable using Google Suite, both for creating new files and managing existing ones; and
a team player who desires to support the success of Programs and TIEC overall.
Work Schedule
TIEC’s business hours are 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, with occasional operations during nights and weekends. The balance of the intern’s work spent in-office versus remotely will be determined by the intern and Programs team, and may periodically shift based on the current responsibilities and tasks. Academic semester interns typically work with TIEC for 12 weeks at 12 hours per week, while summer interns usually follow a schedule of nine weeks with TIEC at 16 hours per week. Interns who complete 144 hours will be eligible for a $500 stipend and a digital credential for use on LinkedIn and other networks.
Upon request, and at the discretion of the Chief Programs and Operations Officer, interns may receive a letter of recommendation.
