TIEC President Robin Lerner Travels to South Korea Under Korea Foundation Fellowship

On April 22-28, 2018, TIEC President & CEO Robin Lerner, JD, was invited as a distinguished guest of the Korea Foundation, an organization affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, for a short-term educational fellowship.

The purpose of the fellowship program was to enhance goodwill and friendship between Korea and the global community, and cohort President Lerner participated in included participants in the education sector from countries across four continents.

While in Korea, President Lerner was able to meet with officials from both Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and International Office.  She also discussed the need for education and English training for DPRK defectors with the Hana Foundation, South Korea’s vision for peace and prosperity with the Director of International Cooperation, summer programs and the power of partnering with Texas universities with President Sung Nak-in of Seoul National University, and more.

“It was an honor to be invited to South Korea by the Korea Foundation Educational Fellowship program,” President Lerner said. “I was able to meet with movers and shakers from across the country and better gage the need for English language programs and higher education partnerships between the United State and South Korea.”
