Last week, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Deputy Administrator Bonnie Glick traveled to Austin, Texas to meet with TIEC’s Board of Directors and Operating Council.

The Texas International Education Consortium was selected along with eight other U.S. universities to participate in U.S. Embassy Cairo’s United States University Tour of Egypt.

Last month, TIEC’s Vice President set off on a tri-country tour of Latin America with the goal of network-building and increasing access for Texas universities.

After moving to Austin last year with her family, Thembie Chiromo was waiting for TIEC to walk into her life. TIEC’s new Director of Finance and Operations has had a long and passion-filled career in non-profit finance and operations, and brings a depth of experience with public and private donor grants and contracts to the organization.

This month, the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC), along with the Universidad Politecnica de Guanajuato in Mexico (UPG), Texas State University (TXST), and Lamar University (LU), received funding from the Exxon Mobil 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund to develop a pilot engineering boot camp/study abroad program.
