The Texas International Education Consortium is pleased to announce three new members of the board of directors: Dr. Suzanne Shipley, President of Midwestern State University, Dr. Kelly Miller, President of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and and Dr. Taylor Eighmy, President of The University of Texas at San Antonio. They join a board of six presidents of Texas universities.
Dr. Shipley serves as a living example of the power of international education. A Fulbright scholar in Germany, her research into the lives of German-Jewish women emigrants has resulted in translations of several previously unpublished diaries from the Holocaust. Dr. Miller also studied abroad during her university years and is a first-generation college student who ascended to the highest level of academia. Both are servant leaders who promote excellence in education and inspire their students and colleagues.
MSU was founded in 1922 and is the only university in Texas to become a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). Serving students from 44 states and 54 countries, MSU is intimate in size and mighty in reach.
TAMUCC, also known as the Island University, is one of only seven federal test sites for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the nation, and the Harte Research Institute, leader of the Texas One Gulf Center of Excellence, is dedicated to advancing the long-term sustainable use and conservation of the Gulf of Mexico.
UTSA has a high rate of acceptance into post-graduate schools, a strong emphasis on research, and nationally ranked programs in cyber security, English, social work, and statistics. Business Week ranked UTSA’s Business School as the #1 Hispanic Serving Institution in the nation and one of the top five programs in Texas.
