Texas A&M Energy Institute, the Texas International Education Consortium, and Greentown Labs to present Climate and Energy Impact Showcase at the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference (COP27) in Egypt
Event will feature innovative solutions to global issues involving climate, energy, food and water
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, October 27, 2022 – The Texas A&M Energy Institute, along with the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC), Greentown Labs, and five Egyptian universities, will present a Climate and Energy Impact Showcase during the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The showcase will focus on innovative technologies and pathways for achieving zero-carbon emissions, combatting climate change, promoting energy equity, ensuring water and food security, and sustaining agricultural and energy production worldwide. Most notably, the event will feature energy and climate innovations developed by students from the Texas A&M Energy Institute and Egyptian universities.
The one-hour presentation starts at 1 p.m. Eastern European Time/5 a.m. Central Time on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at the Green Zone in the Sharm El-Sheikh International Convention Center. The Energy Institute will livestream the event on Texas A&M University’s Zoom platform.
The session’s presenters include: Associate Executive Director Jeff Sammons of the Energy Institute; Robin Lerner, President and CEO of TIEC; Lara Cottingham of Greentown Labs and the Texas Entrepreneurship Exchange for Energy (TEX-E); and five Egyptian universities: Assiut University, Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Badr University, Cairo University and Galala University.
Speakers will discuss energy-transition solutions related to low-carbon or decarbonized energy production; alternative dense-energy carriers; the effects of technology advancements on disadvantaged or energy-poor communities; and the potential tradeoffs associated with new innovations and their impacts on the environment, sustainability and the future of energy.
